Nursery Consultation 2019

Dear parents,

We very much appreciate the support and patience you have shown as we have undergone significant changes in nursery this year. The children are a delight and naturally curious which is what makes nursery an interesting and exciting place to be. We have now reached a point in the nursery’s improvement cycle where we are planning for next year. We would very much appreciate your input on some key questions.

The following is for information and there is a short online survey to complete please (link at the end):

Teacher Led Nursery

There are a range of different early years providers nationally and locally and they vary in the way they are staffed and run, for example, not all nurseries are run by teachers, some are privately owned and some run in schools on a franchised basis. We are fortunate to have local nurseries and child minders with whom we enjoy excellent relationships.

The governing body at The Federation of Holy Trinity CE Schools is committed to the nursery being led by qualified teachers and it being an integral part of the school. Therefore, the vision, values and aims for the nursery are shared with the whole school, as are the school’s policies, practices, curriculum and ethos.

With care at the centre of what we offer and through the teacher led approach, we ensure we have an age appropriate curriculum and provide opportunities and experiences which support and enhance children’s development. Having nursery as part of the school provides the ability to plan for children’s learning over the longer term, understand, assess and meet their needs whilst also preparing them for each phase of their education.

Organisation

To ensure quality of provision for all children who attend nursery we need to manage the structure and organisation of all sessions. Children who attend morning sessions only, should have the same access to learning and playing opportunities, including phonics, as those who only attend afternoon sessions and vice versa. In addition, pick up and drop off times need to correspond with all phases of the school as many children have siblings.

Effective timings of the day will maximise the quality of sessions and enable proactive staff planning and preparation for every session.

 Further ideas and views.

The more flexible the offer for nursery is the more difficult it becomes to organise, as staffing is dictated by adult to child ratios. Planning for consistency will help us to provide quality provision and maximise our teacher led approach. If you have further thoughts or ideas please share them on the survey form:
